Have you ever longed for the simpler things? Ever wanted to throw in the towel, hit the highway and stick your finger up at the smog-veiled city lights as they recede into darkness behind you? Ever wanted to head to a place where it's just you and Mother Nature, and she doesn't seem to have a problem with you walking around in the nude?
Sydney artist James Ettelson recently took a hiatus from the Sydney party scene to return to nature on his Dad's property in Scotts Head, NSW. Feeling overwhelmed by modern society's fixation with technology, he took some time out from the virtual world to work on his latest collection of artwork, Fixated.
Working on large canvases and employing a variety of different methods and mediums, the collection is full of extraordinarily detailed, multilayered pieces created with dots rather than brush strokes. Intrigued by these unique pieces, the boys from Lagoon Collective travelled to Scotts Head to learn more about the inspiration behind Fixated and to experience a Day in the Life of James Ettelson..
