Goddamn SEXY Fae Swim

Celebrating the female body is what Fae Swim is all about. Designed for the fearless bikini babe who doesn't mind turning a few heads, this brand is making a splash all over the world with the likes of Alexis Ren, Bianca Booth, Rachel Cook and Bryana Holly all pledging their undying love for their cheeky cuts and luxurious fabrics.

We chat with the founder of the brand Bianca Schoer, who began designing bikinis for herself in Bali and ended up creating our new BRAND OF THE MOMENT just over 6 months ago.

We love her. You will too..

Hey Bianca! How are you today?

I am hot.. hot but good!

You moved from Australia to Bali last year (and broke my heart in the process..). What do you love about the island life?

OH GOD I'VE MISSED YOU!

What's not to love!? I guess what I love the most about it is the relaxed lifestyle. It is so chill over here. It's really easy to have a good work/life balance, it's always hot which means I don't have to change out of a bikini all year, and my office is on a sun bed next to the pool which isn't too bad at all!

When Fae Swim started, you were mostly just having swimsuits made for yourself, right? What made you decide to turn your ideas into a label?

Yeah I was! I was working with a lot of swimwear labels at the time which means I had the advantage of having boxes and boxes of amazing bikinis to draw inspiration from, but I was struggling to find the perfect fitting bikini, so I decided to design some for personal use. I started posting some photos on social media wearing them around the villa and was getting a lot of questions about them, so I decided to bite the bullet and do a minimum production order and start some social media accounts for the brand and that's when it snowballed and Fae Swim was born. It's been crazy ever since.

Did you ever imagine it becoming so successful?

No! I mean obviously that was what I had hoped for but it's a tough industry and there are a lot of amazing swimwear labels out there. So I never thought we would have achieved what we have achieved so far in just five months. It's so overwhelming but so so rewarding to know that everyone else loves our swimwear as much as we do.

Tell us about your partner in crime and all round great guy, Adam Bennetts. What’s his role in Fae Swim?

Ha isn't he the best. Adam Bennetts (AKA Bikini Guy).. Luckily Adam is a perfect sample bikini size so he is our Fae Swim fit model. Haha…. No but seriously… he is amazing. He is much more organised than me so he is the one that keeps everything running smoothly at Fae Swim HQ. He is in charge of all of our accounts, managing our production runs, graphic design work. He is pretty much Superman and it would have been impossible to do this without him.

Describe a typical day in the life of Bianca and Bennetts..

Ahhhh wow. It is pretty sweet. We normally wake up and reply to some emails in bed, go out for breakfast at our favourite little cafe, and then work on the go. Sometimes Adam surfs and I tag along and bring my work to the beach. We have a great little team of staff over here who manage all of our orders for us. So that takes the pressure off a lot. We focus mainly on our next range and planning our shoots and collaborations (the fun stuff). We are expecting a baby boy in 6 weeks! So we have definitely slowed down a lot and handed a lot of the responsibility over to our staff so that we can get prepared for the new addition to the family. Which gives us much more “US” time to do our thing and enjoy all the perks this island has to offer.

What’s it like trying to build up a brand in the new social media age?

We are lucky enough to have some pretty amazing friends in the industry that love Fae and wanted to be involved with the brand which really helped us out.

We understand that content is key when it comes to social media. We put quite a big budget monthly into shoots and shoot minimum 2-3 times per month which means we are never short of amazing content. I think that is the key to building a brand in the social media age.. CONTENT, CONTENT AND MORE CONTENT. It is so important to keep the momentum going and continue to surprise people with amazing new models and photographers shooting Fae.

Seems like you always have hot bikini babes hanging around your Balinese villa.. Who’s your ultimate muse?

Oohhhh yeah we do. Ahhhh my ultimate muse… that is a hard one. We just shot our campaign with all time bikini weapons Alexis Ren and Bianca Booth…. those two girls are insane. I also have a major girl crush on Jess Lee Buchanan and Victoria's Secret babe Romee Strijd who are both Fae lovers themselves too.

Fae bikinis have been photographed in some pretty amazing places. What’s been your favourite shoot location so far?

Ahhhh probably the crazy mansion in Malibu which we used to shoot Alexis and Bianca. I love beautiful crisp white locations which make the swimwear and styling pop and that place just photographed soooo well.

Any new designs or collaborations on the horizon?
YES. We are currently working hard on our next range launching May 2017 which is going to be amazing, and we are already planning our next campaign which we are shooting in April with an incredible model and photographer. I cannot wait to be able to share the finer details with you… but for now its hush hush.

My photography and writing style is constantly evolving and changing as I grow and develop as a person. I am increasingly more drawn to what's ‘raw’, trying to capture the essence of a person or place, their vulnerability, their whole, the life inside them.

Telling stories and sharing moments of spontaneity and purity.

I have a terrible thirst for adventure and travel. A want to explore the world, camera in hand. Foreign places, memories, strangers, and explorations of light. Feeling alive.

With my fashion body of work, I am inspired by the models as people rather than as mannequins, and by the locations we’re in. It’s an exciting process, having that freedom of creativity to be able to work in an organic way, with place and person as muses, incorporating style to evoke an overall mood and make a vision into something tangible.

I’d love to keep working with fashion and portraiture, working on creative projects, and doing freelance photojournalism. I want to travel the world and working on projects that I am passionate about.

  2. The Whitsundays travel guide

"I''ve travelled around the world and the most beautiful place i have ever seen is in our backyard - the Whitsundays” - Emily Hutchinson @emelinaah
We planned a fun 8-day Whitsunday holiday filled with reef diving, island hopping, water activities and plenty of time to relax. The trip kicked off with three days in Airlie Beach which was enough time to chat to the locals and get the inside story on the best things to do and explore in the Whitsundays. Every conversation pointed to two things: a one-day Cruise Whitsundays dive trip to the outer Great Barrier Reef and a sea plane flight over Heart Reef and Whitehaven Beach with Air Whitsunday. Then we spent four leisurely days on a #gobareboating catamaran exploring the 74 Whitsunday Islands. Thanks to our very own skipper (a local who knew just the right places), we stumbled across our own secret beaches, found hidden gems and watched the tropical Whitsunday world go by. Our trip ended with an overnight stay on glorious Hamilton Island - and a chance to mix water sports and hiking activities with chill outs by the resort pool and enjoy quality restaurant and cocktail time.
